Transcript for "Better Donor Management: Introduction to Raiser's Edge NXT":
Next team. My name is Tom, and I'm gonna be giving you a quick tour of the solution along with my colleague, Jack. Just for a bit of an introduction, I've been at Blackboard for over thirteen years now. I think now, working with the not for profit sector, helping charities, foundations, schools, and universities underpin their mission using Blackboard technology. So today's talk today's talk, we'll be showing you how Raizer's Edge NXT will help you work smarter, engage your supporters, and drive fundraising success. We'll keep it simple and practical, covering areas such as the secure login, customizable home page, support supporter profile page, and the fundraising work center. Then I'll pass over to my colleague, Jack, who is gonna provide an overview of the donation forms, email marketing functionality, and reporting. Thanks very much. So, yes, let's start with the secure login. So Raised Edge NXT, as some of you may be aware, is fully cloud based and comes with unlimited licenses to allow for organization wide access. But that will take security very seriously. So having multifactor authentication is standard and everything is GDPR compliant. This means that your donor data is protected, obviously, at the highest level. You can also use your own, organization single sign on, for that extra layer of security. So, yeah, after I've logged in just take a second there just to get this through. You typically land on on the home page. Now, before I go on to talk about bit about the home page, I did wanna highlight something that's very exciting, that's coming into Razer's and XT very soon. It's currently in preview phase, which is Blackboard AI. So one example you might be able to use this feature of, feature for in the future is, you have a lunch meeting with a donor. I want a quick summary of, of their relationship with your organization. So I'll open up the chat here, and we'll, let's see if this works. If I just I wanna summarize our relationship with Mark Addison, one of our donors. And, obviously, this information can be found relatively easy within the system, but this is gonna be a a game changer for users who wanna access that information that little bit faster. So we'll just wait for it to do its thing here, and hopefully that'll pop up with a bit of a summary. There you go. Mark Edwards has a rich and diverse network of relationships. He's covered off his professional connections and social connections and mentor mentorship that he's been receiving as well. So just a bit of an insight into what Blackboard AI, will be able to provide within within Razer's and XT. Right. So back to that main page. So now depending on your role, whether that's fundraising, events, communications, or you're part of the senior leadership team, each user can customize their home page to view what matters most. As you can see here, I have a snapshot of all of my opportunities and stages. Some can have their actions or your favorite queries, recent gifts, or even, event performance. This enables users to have a really tailored experience and can access what's most important to them straight away. You've obviously got the, recently accessed records here as well. Just while we're on this page, it's worth pointing out how, easy it is to get help and support. This little question mark in the top right hand corner opens up a help page, which is context sensitive and provide guidance and assistance for the any page that you're on within within the solution. You can also access chat support, raise a case, and find a ton of other helpful resources within the resource center. Right. Let's dive into a support record. I should have just mentioned as well, you have the side navigation panel. This is where you can access the majority of the the areas in the system here. But let's use the recently accessed, records just to pull up a support to profile. So, yeah, let's dive into the record just to see this type of insights that you can get. So here's a supporter profile page for Mark Adamson. Now straightaway, you can see that top level information that's really important such as things like solicit codes or, summary notes, which fundraisers are assigned to Mark. But most importantly, you've got Mark's constituent codes. Now we know that your supporters could have lots of different interactions and relationships with you that all need to be captured slightly differently to ensure that you're able to segment your data and tailor your outreach. So we can see here that Mark is a major donor, a gift just giving fundraiser, a paying member, and also a volunteer. Now further down on the record, you can access more detailed information on Mark. Again, like much of NXT, these all of these tiles can be customized, to suit the individual user. So these can be all drag drag and dropped, and rearranged to ensure the relevant information is is most visible. So I will just unclutch them all for the moment. Yeah. So I won't get through every single tile on Mark's record, but so just to give you a bit of a an overview, there's you you know, you've got high level contact information on his record by giving summaries, showing his latest, greatest, first latest, and greatest gifts. Again, you can probably find this information within the system after a few clicks, but actually just having that high level overview of how much Mark given to us in his, in his total time of being a supporter is really valuable. You've got things like actions, so recording the latest actions with Mark, phone calls, emails, obviously, tracking all of, Mark's opportunities that he's associated with, as well as relationships. Who else is Mark connected to? Who else do we have a relationship with that, that's connected to Mark? And, obviously, very important, you've got consent in there as well. So tracking all of Mark's, consent, what he's opted in for, what he's opted out for. Now all of this information, Mark's record, helps maintain that single source of truth. So, yeah, let's take a quick look at the work center. So, yeah, this is a dedicate this oh, sorry. This designed with major donors or trust fundraisers in mind having a dedicated place to manage and track all of your opportunities. So I'll just open the portfolio area, click on work center. So, yeah, firstly, you're presented. In fact, I will pull up Tim's record because he's got a bit more data on his. Yeah, firstly, you're presented with this needs attention area. To help focus on relationships that need your attention, Raiser's Edge NXT automatically listens to your constituent records and tags them based on special situations such as upcoming birthdays or perhaps a lack of interactions, lapsing donors, or an overdue pledge prompting you to do something with it. So you can add an action on the fly, or if you've already spoken to such an organization, you can dismiss that, and and it will populate the next one. So a nice bit of business intelligence, surfacing there in the solution. If we scroll down, you're presented with some dashboards summarizing all of my opportunities that I'm associated with and what stages they're in. That's down here. And it also highlights all of my actions up at the top here as well. So flagging any overdue or upcoming to help users stay on top of their their workload. For fundraising managers, if you wanna have a bit more of a broader overview of all the fundraisers that that are in their team, you can toggle this switch, up here and select all fundraisers, and that should provide you a nice overview of the the the bigger picture. So how many opportunities are in play, how many past due actions. And, yeah, once the now, hopefully yeah. So fundraisers or relationship owners can then start to work within their portfolio, assigned contacts and organizations with the ability to filter their list by a number of different criteria, including, prospect status, gift size, or next action, ensuring that all opportunities are being worked as effectively as possible. So that's that area there. Now, hopefully, that was a good insight into some of the areas of NXT. Now I'm gonna pass over to my colleague, Jack, who's going to touch on some of the integrated online capabilities such as donation forms, email, and finishing off with reporting. Thanks very much, everyone. Thanks, Tom. Hi, everyone. My name is Jack Carlton. I'm an account executive here at Blackboard, having worked here for coming up to seven years in the new year. I hope you're all having lovely days. What I'm here to show you today is online donation forms being built within Raiser's Edge and then a brief overview of reporting and dashboards before wrapping up for wrapping up this product tour. Blackboard has the benefit of having inbuilt donation forms within the system, that have our own inbuilt payment processor within that. The payment processor is called Blackboard Merchant Services, but we'll be changing its name in the new year to Blackboard Integrated Payments. Here, I'm showing you the home page of Raiser's Edge. I just wanted to show you how easy it is to set up a new donation form. In particular, one we've released at the latter part of this year called the optimized donation form. Optimized donation form is designed to reduce the amount of steps that a individual or organization will need to undertake to make a donation on someone's website or on an organization's website. So if we move down here on the left to the online giving part of the system and then pop into the donation forms, It'll now surface a couple of different donation forms that we've built that are live or maybe in test mode. But if I wanted to build a new one itself, I can either choose from a standardized of, donation form or an optimized form. The key difference being is a standard form. You can have as many different fields as you would like asking people for certain pieces of information, regarding a donation. The optimized, you know, giving them a much more engaging experience requires minimal setup, much easier for an organizational person to make a donation. So if we click into the optimized donation form, we can have just an optimized, naming it up here. We can then have a branding template associated with it. So when you click on the donate button on someone's website, it will then bring up a branding card, which you can build and upload according to your brand guidelines. And we can just preview here what that would look like sitting behind sorry, sitting in front of sorry. Again, behind the donation form itself. We can have the donation form default to a monthly gift if need be. We can keep it as one time to start with. It's a bit bit more customizable in that aspect. We can have what the lowest one time gift ask amounts are, so from 25 raising up to 500. If we don't feel that that's appropriate, we can lower it down to £250. And from a recurring gift perspective, we only may want to start out at 10 and then have the highest at 75. And if you click on the monthly part of the donation form, it'll reflect the changes. The designations for the gift is something that Blackboard, have have put in all donation forms. And that is essentially, you know, what fund behind, this donation, where that might be going to. So it could be for a general capital fund. This is all customized within Raiser's Edge, for each individual organization. Could be a capital fund, acquisition fund. It could be unrestricted or restricted funds. This is where the money ends up at the end, but we have to have one on each donation form. So we'll click click on that one. And then, yeah, on the donation form itself, you have additional options for comments or for tributes, so making, gifts in honor of a person or cause, and you can have these looked up, you know, collect from email and mail, from a mail perspective only, or don't collect information, things like that. So if we move on to the next part, the gift processing, this is where we're using, again, how I mentioned earlier, Blackboard's integrated payment services or Blackboard merchant services as it's currently called. By default, this is in test mode, so we don't need to activate it just yet. So we'll keep it in test mode. One thing I want to note, to everyone here, is that we're integrating with Google Pay and Apple Pay, and we're also able to take credit or direct debit card payments as well. As you move down the page, another option that you might see here is the fee coverage. We have three different options here for Blackboard, here within Raiser's Edge. We have Blackboard pays, what we call complete cover. Blackboard here will pay fees eligible for transactions, and this is up to £3,000, and then let the support of voluntary cur contribute to Blackboard for the service. This is for donations up to £3,000. What this guarantees for the charity or organization using these forms is the idea that you are able you're getting 100% of the donation. And this is on our standardized payment processing sorry. Standardized donation forms as well, not just our optimized ones. If you're not comfortable with offering this from the on the donation form, we have donor pays. That's where you have the option for the donor to to chip in, and cover the processing payments. If you're not comfortable with any of these, then you can pay the processing fees yourself. There's a variety of options, just whatever, the person or organization setting this up is comfortable with. And as we move further down, then the third payment price the third field or third window shown on the form itself is nothing right now. But if we want to have organizations or people claiming gift date, we can have that. We can have them put in put their phone numbers, you know, additional fields, certain hidden fields as well. So these aren't things that these hidden fields aren't things that the cost that the donors or, you know, whether they be individual organizations will see. But this is how you'll code your gift in the background. So a campaign and appeal might be for a winter appeal that you're running, and this campaign or sorry. It's how you'll be gift coding the donation coming in. And then if we want to, we can collect consent preferences, opt ins, things like that. But I just for the sake of today's demonstration, I won't have anything to to show here. And then lastly, we can use default content to say thank you for making a donation. They can have the option to share it on socials. If they need to copy and send it over to friends of theirs, they can do so. But But if we're not showing, social sharing options, we can automatically have the closed form, if need be. It's just a certain message from someone, and then we will have an automatic thank you sent out to each of the people that make a donation here. So the email subject line, you can change here. You can have a from name, from email, reply name, reply email. We tend to have these as more generic emails email addresses from organizations, and then these be personalized ones, to make sure that they are seen and get a response. And then we can open our email designer here just to have that, all designed and sent out, sent out. When someone is making a donation within Blackboard's donation forms, four things happen. First being the pro the payment process through Blackboard merchant services or integrated payments safely and securely. Secondly, a notification is sent to someone out within the system. So whoever this notification can be sent to, this will be a user of Raiser's Edge. We can have a couple of different people here. We can have one person here. We wanna make sure that someone's notified when a donation is made within, within our forms. Of the four things, thirdly, if they're a new or returning donor, their profiles will be created or automatically updated. And then lastly, all donations using Blackboard donated sorry. Blackboard donation forms will be automatically thanked by, an acknowledgment that we can use artificial intelligence to help or create, or you can have more customized ones here within the system. And then, you know, do do, receipts need to be sent out or created? Down here, you have more options too. So I just wanted to recap how easy it is, again, with optimized donation forms. If you don't like the look and feel of those, you do have the standardized donation forms, which are really easy to create and much more drag and drop style as well. Yep. Again, similar way to set up, but less optimized, more steps, and then tend to be more, on one form or or one web page on your website. All of these can be embedded on any different websites or or CMSs, very easy to upload. Now that we're finished with donation forms, I'll just pop into events sorry. Not events. Reporting just to show you a couple of different dashboards that are prebuilt when speaking sorry, when setting up Raiser's Edge with our team. In the last couple of days of consultancy when implementing Raiser's Edge, our team will go and create a number of dashboards based on your current data for you. These are all of the standardized dashboards that you'll receive, again, using your own data. But if you wanted to create more personalized ones, things that are a little bit left of what Blackboard's created for you, a bit more personalized to what may be needed, from senior management or certain managers within the organization, you can create your own reporting dashboard up here. Here we have a full overview of everything from a fundraising perspective within the database and then breaking down to campaigns, funds, and appeals, again, that gift coding structure that I spoke to earlier. Here in Raised Edge, Raised Edge is one of its strongest features is its donor retention, its donor acquisition, and its donor recapture. Probably the three most important things for fundraising teams is having an eye across how each of these are trending upwards or downwards over any given time period. And the the, the dashboards here reflect how we're going year to date, you know, certain things we can dive deeper into, all of the links. We'll then create reports for us for that said data point. Again, to mention these are all premade. We can see how we're trending, this year versus two years ago versus last year to see how our year on year donor retention is trending. As we move, we can then do the same for acquisition and recapture. But as we move a bit further along the tabs here, number of organizations out there do rely quite heavily on major donor funding, and we can see how our major donor funding and our major donor opportunities are trending. And this is through a variety of different statuses or purposes that we've get coded in. We can see how we are projected to potentially finish versus what's actually been funded, what the average difference in what's being asked versus what's being funded, and then as we move further down, average time scales for certain opportunities and how they're progressing through the organization's own status or identification status period. Lastly, one of the key features of Blackboard and Raizer's Edge is being able to benchmark how your data is comparing to our other organizations. Because we have such a large customer base and organizations can opt into this or opt out of this, but what you want might want to understand how your acquisition rate, your donor acquisition and retention rate, or your giving is going compared to other acquisition and retention rate, or your giving is going compared to other organizations that are using Raizer's Edge. This is all completely anonymized, but we can see for the calendar year of 2025 as we move as we come to a close how my charity that might be between 1 and £10,000,000 in revenue might be comparing to other organizations out there on a variety of variety of different data points. So from a donor acquisition and retention perspective, our organization is doing really quite well, almost in the top top 10% almost. As you can see, our recapture rate is fantastic as well. But our acquisition rate is some of the worst in all organizations using Raizer's Edge, and it might be very tricky for you to understand how this might be happening without that certain data insights that Raizer's Edge might offer. But we can see over here that Blackboard with our best practice advices. Best practices have have a list of recommended links that will help you understand where these things might be going wrong and how you can action to increase your acquisition rate. As we move further down, we can see this, again on hand for giving, so how we're going from total revenue, revenue per donor, recent donors, current donors, and how we can we are traveling compared to other organizations in 2025, in the medium fundraising revenue size. And that wraps up our Raises Edge NXT to, today. This is just a a very high level overview in terms of functionality and what it can do. I hope you have enjoyed it. If you'd like to see its full capabilities, please hit request a demo in the top right of your screen, and a product expert or member of Blackboard will reach out to you to directly set up a time to get a more customized demonstration. I hope you all have lovely days. Thanks.
