Transcript for "Mastering Email and Consent Management in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT®":
Alrighty. Good afternoon or good morning, depending where you're at in the world. My name is Andrey, and I'll be one of the instructors going through our webinar for today for mastering email and consent management in Blackbaud Raises Edge NXT. Before we get started with our content, of course, I wanna go through some of our introductions and our housekeeping materials as well. As I already mentioned, my name is Andrey. I'll be one of the instructors for the webinar this afternoon or morning, depending where you're at in the world. I live out in Charleston, South Carolina. Most of my background has been in the world of education. It's been a good bit of time in customer support as well. Some of my fun facts down there, I enjoy being active. So definitely love weight lifting, spend classes. I love a good book. I'm also a huge fan of Nintendo. So anything, Mario, Luigi, the whole Mushroom Kingdom, that's where I like to, you know, spend my time with gaming wise and some other games too. Also, another fun fact, my ten year anniversary is coming up next week, so that stuck up on me. So super excited to still be working here and present information today. But it's not just me. I have someone with me as well, Branden. Good morning, afternoon. I'm gonna be doing a lot of the demoing here today. I've been with Blackbaud for many years. I started doing, tech support for Raiser's Edge when I, first joined the company. I've been with, doing the teaching for quite a bit now. I love hanging out with my family. I do a lot of traveling. This summer, I was in Hawaii for a couple weeks, so it's something I really enjoy doing. So we'll, get started here in just a bit. Thanks so much, Branden. Before we get started, we are gonna go through a few of the housekeeping items. As you already tell, of course, the audio is coming through your speakers. If anything goes wrong or seems funky or any freezing, let's just go ahead and refresh that browser. That resolves most issues. Popular question. Will this be recorded? Yes. You will receive an email about this webinar, so you can go back and watch that recording. So don't worry about having to take too many notes or you have to step away. There is a recording. It will be sent to you. Now I also wanna direct your attention to the upper right hand corner. We have different little tabs there. One of those tabs is our docs tab. If you haven't already, go ahead and select that. You're gonna see a couple of different things there. The first one is an elearning about the consent information. We also have a class for email for Blackbaud over on Black Bayou Campus. I would love to see you there, as well as Branden and everyone else. And probably the most wonderful thing is the FAQ document. Branden and I spent a lot of time working on that document, making sure it has lots of useful resources from the email resource center, the product files, knowledge base articles. So make sure you download that if you haven't already. And then most importantly, thank you so much for joining. We are so happy to have you here for today's webinar. As a reminder, though, this is a webinar. This is not a training. Training's a little bit different. In the training world, it's about 25 to 30 people, not so much 2,000. A bit of a smaller crowd. Also too, you'll be able to ask those questions to the instructor. You can engage with others in that virtual classroom setting, and you will have access to a sample environment where you can practice using this for the email functionality and get some tips and tricks from the instructor as well. Again, that's also one of those useful links over in the doc section, so make sure you click on that email option so you can see what classes are being ran and pick the one that fits your schedule. And, again, thank you so much for joining. Now for today, we're gonna have our wonderful little, agenda here. Kicking things off is me. I'm gonna walk through some of the email prep we wanna focus on. And then in that second section, we're gonna focus on consent, solicit codes, and some other useful email settings. After that, I'm a kick it back over to Branden. I call him the email expert. And then in unit four, our email expert, Branden, will also talk about some of the ways to analyze the email data. And then in that last section, we'll come back on together and talk about how you can continue your training journey or your learning journey with us in Blackbaud Campus. Before we can get to that wonderful demonstration by my email expert, Branden, let's go ahead and walk through some of the first, content here in the establishing email prep essentials. Now before we even get into our agency start working on that email, you do wanna think about your building blocks. Think about what is gonna be your starting point. For example, think about that email content. What is the email actually for? Is it for maybe a celebration? Is it maybe for your fundraising efforts? Maybe you're going to have a special event to celebrate your amazing volunteers. Wanna also think about the recipients. Who is our target audience? Do they maybe have a special constituent code on their record? Do they have a special custom field on their record? Thinking about what the records will share in common so I can get them grouped together. Besides grouping, though, knowing your recipients or knowing your audience is gonna also help you make sure that content is relevant to them. Last but not least, I wanna make sure I keep the attention of my recipients and make sure they actually open up that email. And when they are opening up that email, I want them to actually read the email. I wanna think about my images as well as my clickable. If you are having an event, great. Let's go ahead and make sure we have a link to our event registration form, which is something you can do through our e n c email. Also, if we had this event last year, let's go ahead and remind them how much fun they would have by attending this year. If you did have any major milestone moments or some amazing photography from that event, let's go ahead and put that in there as well. Now everyone's a little bit different. If you want to, you are more than welcome, of course, to get a piece of paper, write this down to get yourself organized. When you're thinking about this, though, again, think about the email content. What's the theme? What's the purpose? Thinking about the recipients, making sure they actually care about that message. Also considering okay. Hey. I wanna make sure they're going to fill out this donation form or fill out that event event registration form. So I wanna make sure that I have that link actually live. I wanna make sure I have that hyperlink. I can have that call to action button at the bottom of the email or that preferred location. Bonus points, we can also change up the color of that email button as well if desired. But I think also too, it is important to remember you're not working on this alone. Pulling your teammates. Have someone review the email with you. Have them kinda talk with you through your brainstorming process, whether that's your favorite colleague or your not so favorite colleague, also your legal team as well as your marketing department as well. And while we are working on that email again, here are just some high level points to keep in mind. Let's think about what's gonna catch the attention of our users. Have a nice and catchy subject line. If your email's gonna have links, let's make sure those are working. That's super important. Along with that, though, be strategic with your link. If you are gonna have multiple links in that email, let's make sure that it's very obvious they're clickable. Let's maybe include some buttons as well. For example, if I wanted to sign up for any event or I want them to maybe fill out that donation form, I'm gonna have a button for that in my email somewhere. Also, even though we are able to format our text, let's not go overboard. Let's make sure our email is easy to read. Definitely another great reason to involve your marketing team or your favorite colleague with a fresh pair of eyes to make sure everything looks good. Besides that, though, your recipients or your audience may have questions. Let's make sure that we're sharing those answers with them. So make sure you have a reply to address. So if they have any questions, they can send them your way, and you can let them know the answers. As I already mentioned a few times here before, let's also be sure to test those emails, test those links, get that peer reviewed. I wanna make sure that email gets my point across. I wanna make sure I have a good email. Lastly, be strategic with your timing. Send that email on the weekend. It's probably not gonna get red. It's the weekend. Send that email at three in the morning. It's three in the morning. They're probably asleep. So we wanna make sure we're being very strategic with that email. Let's try to send that at the perfect timing. Maybe not around the holidays. People may not be checking their inboxes as frequently. So use your best judgment there. Speaking of best judgment, we are all, of course, making our way to that doc section to grab that FAQ document. We're gonna also make sure that we're checking out knowledge base for extra resources, tips, and tricks. And, again, you can come see us in BlockFiU campus where you can actually have a space to try out the email functionality in our sample environment. Even better, you can't break things in our sample environment. If you do, it doesn't matter. It's a sample environment. Last but not least, have you heard about the sample database labs? If not, then you need to make your way over to our R and C product pages so you can check that out as well. This is nice if you wanna have a sample environment and try some things on your own. Now there's not an instructor in this, but you will have access to that sample environment to work at your own pace to try this out. You can find out more details within Blackbaud U Campus on the r and c product pages. With that being said, though, we're getting closer and closer to that demo moment for my email expert, Branden. And before we get there, though, I wanted to explore consent, solicit codes, and email settings. And before I get into that, just a fun fact. Branden and I actually put in a few email puns and jokes throughout this presentation. So I wonder, can you catch them all? Maybe you can. Maybe you want, but, hopefully, you're up for the challenge. First things first, though, definitely, I'll talk about that consent information. We're gonna find this tile on the constituent record. Whether that information is being updated from one of our donation forms or our event registration forms or you making that change mainly on that record. But we're gonna find their boundaries, their preferences for communication on this tile. We're gonna also have solicit codes. This is gonna be essential for making sure we have the right people grouped together that actually want to receive our communication. For example, do not call me up to 10PM. Do not send me emails. Or maybe, yes, send me your newsletter, but don't send that to me as a direct mail. Email that to me instead. Even better, solicit codes is something customizable that you can make work for your organization and make sure you're spending the boundaries of those constituents when it comes to your outreach. Based upon past classes, Branden and I have found that people don't know about solicit code alerts. If you are someone that is a Davis administrator, you can have this alert appear at the top of that constituent record. You can customize this through that gear icon. That way, any specific solicit codes of your choosing can be mentioned at the top of their record. You'll find out more about this in our FAQ document, of course. And remember, this is an admin setting, so not all people can see this, only admin users. Now sometimes people wonder, do I have to make solicit codes work by themselves? Do I have to manage consent by itself? No. You can actually have consent solicit codes work together. What you see on the screen right now is a screenshot of the business rules in the database view. You can actually map what should happen if someone opts in or opts out and control what solicit code is assigned to their record. This can be a great way to make sure your consent information as well as your solicit codes are working together and matching as well. This is also in our FAQ document if you have not seen this before. As I just showed you before, it's listed codes and consent are customizable so you can make them work for your organization. I also mentioned too that for our standard donation forms as well as our event registration forms, we can include consent details there as well to capture that data too. And, really, again, I just wanna make sure I'm respecting that boundary of that constituent so that way I maintain a good relationship with them as well. Now we are gonna see a little bit later during our demonstration that we are able to use a constituent's list. You can filter based upon your preferred preference in terms of custom fields or any specific constituent codes as needed or other fields too. Definitely don't forget, though, we're gonna also include solicit codes. I wanna make sure that this person is okay with receiving that email that I'm sending out their way. For my folks who love query, don't worry. Query also will have this in there as well. This will include our consent information as well as our solicit codes too. You might want to filter on those details, or you might decide you wanna simply use that query to review what's on the records currently. They may be wondering to yourself, why does the slide say static query? Well, sometimes you may need to do a little bit more advanced filtering or you wanna segment the data a little bit differently, but those fields aren't in list. Well, we know that we are able to build a static query with our preferred grouping, and we can take that static query over into a web view list as our starting point. So if you ever feel like you need more flexibility with that field or fields you need, don't forget about query being available in the web view. So we can build that static query, use that as our starting point for our constituents list. That's also important to note because email is looking for a constituents list, not a constituent query. But remember, we can make the software work together. Now coming up, we're getting closer to that demo moment. Branden has already adjusted our initial settings. But I did wanna point out when it's time to work in that email area, we have to hop into that gear icon to update a few tabs. The first tab we're gonna come across is our org information, where we can include, of course, your org's name, your website, your privacy policy URL, as well as your address too. These details will display in the footer of your email, the very bottom of it. We also have our defaults. This can help us save some time in regards to our default email address, our default sender, or we can also take the time here to put in our preference around our preferred color, our font family, our font size. This can also be a great way to show off your organization's colors as well if desired. Don't worry, though. If you decide you want to change the text or change the color, you can make that happen when you're building that email too. Think of this more as a starting point for your font and text settings. This one isn't so much for initial settings, but this is great to know. If someone has opted out of your email and they want to opt back in, but they don't have that special link, they don't have an email you sent out, you can go ahead and initiate that request from right here instead by putting in their email address. If you're curious about this, it's also in our FAQ. But I wanna also point out when you're on that tab, it also has an information icon too. You can tap on that eye icon there to get more details when you actually want to utilize this opt in functionality. Now when we are working on email, we're gonna see our email expert, Branden, do an amazing job during his demonstration, but we're gonna have a chance to pick a layout. Whether that's gonna be from scratch or templates. We're gonna add in the content that's gonna matter for our audience. Think about your photos. Think about the text, your logo. We're gonna also customize where appropriate. That could be customizing the font family, customizing the colors, customizing the alignment, and so much more. And then last but not least, we are gonna have the finalized details. This is where I can include the preferred or target audience we're focusing on. Remember, we're using a constituent list. This is also where I might want to put in some test or recipients that can view the test email internally. So we have a separate section to put the emails of our colleagues to review that test email. Again, we wanna make sure things look good before we send it out to our actual users. This tab will also have some other settings, and you'll see some of that in the demonstration. And you're gonna definitely talk about it more in Blackbaud U Campus in our class for email. I hope to see you there. Now just as a reminder, email is not one of our fundamental classes, but email is actually pretty useful in RE and Xcede. Whether you're focusing on AI acknowledgments, gift receiving, giving statements, or you want to use that email to share direct link for your donation forms, your event registration forms. Or you can also use a workflow, which is a combination of sending out emails, action records, or only actions, or only emails, or a mixture of both. So I definitely recommend starting off with that email class and then branching off to our other classes. Again, email is not one of our fundamental classes, but it is essential to some of the other areas of the software. And, you know, by now, you come see us in Blackbaud, Black Bayou campus, for more information. And one of the classes we recommend as a starting point is the email class itself, assuming, of course, you already taken our WebView fundamentals. If not, let's start there and then take the email class after that. With that being said, though, I think it's time to put the spotlight on my friend here, Branden. And Branden gonna do an excellent demonstration here, entering a world of email builder. Thank you so much, Andrey. You've set me up very well here. So, yeah, we're gonna be building an email, taking all the different tips and tricks we've just, learned. So we're gonna kinda put our head in, kind of an example email we'd like to put together. So I'll go ahead and throw that on screen here. So what we're gonna be doing here is so after a year of tireless dedication, uplifting moments, and behind the scenes magic, our amazing volunteers deserve more than just applause. They deserve a party. So we're throwing a volunteer thank you bash. And, yes, we're gonna we're going full southern hospitality with good eats, heartfelt stories, and a few surprise flourishes. This event is for everyone who rolled up their sleeves, shared their time, and made our mission possible. Our volunteers built community, lifted spirits, and we wanna shower them with all our love, admiration, and appreciation. Sound good? So we're gonna get into that, but we're gonna just kinda remember some of the things that Andrey talked about to prep our email. Right? So before you get into the head space of getting it creative, you wanna think about what's gonna go into this. Right? So if you're building an email coming from your organization, you might have some lingo or, communication verbiage that is approved. So you wanna make sure that is correct and proper before you send it out to the masses. Think about who you're sending to and that's gonna come back into that constituent list. We'll show you what that looks like in our demo as well. Any images or buttons you wanna include. It's just a really good idea to have those images ready, have those links ready, have that text ready. So you can just kinda focus on the building of the email and not worry about what needs to be included or not included. You'll have it ready to go. And then, our kind of best practice when you're sending out something is not only make sure it's preapproved, the version and everything, but, maybe just have another set of eyes on it. Make sure this looks good, all the pictures, the imaging, the the the language you're using is all something your team is, ready to send out. But assuming that's all good to go, you can get into the email builder, which we're gonna be diving here in just a moment. So as a reminder, as we move through this demo, this is a webinar. Some of the more deep dive functions we talk about in our email classes in Blackbaud University, and I teach that one too. I'd be happy to have you join us over there, but we're gonna kinda take a look at all of those functions here in this example. So let me go ahead and get that, shared on my screen here. So give me just a moment, and I'm gonna share what I'm looking at here. And we're gonna dive into our example sample environment so that we can, do the demo here together. So it should be popping up on your screen here now. We'll give it a moment to load up here. But here we are. This is something you may be familiar with. It's our web view. And before we dive into building an email, of course, we want to have that list ready. Right? We wanna know who we're sending to. So I'm gonna jump over to the constituent list here, which is gonna be under here, under constituent list. And then from here, I'm gonna go up to, the list. So I've got it pre made here, and our email was sent out to our volunteers. Right? So we've set some filters including I wanna make sure I'm pointing to just those we've labeled as volunteer. So I have a constituent code for volunteer. And then those all important solicit codes, I wanna make sure I include those as well. So I have a filter here to exclude certain solicit codes, and you can see as I mouse over this, I don't wanna include those that said they don't want email, they do not solicit, email newsletters only. If they have those on their record, exclude these people. I don't want them in part of this email because I'm respecting their wishes for communications here. So with that, I think we have what we need to get into the email portion. So that is gonna be over in this little envelope icon, and we're gonna go into the email from here. Now on this screen, we're seeing a lot of information here. We're gonna get to some of the after email when it gets sent to stats and some of the details here. So we'll come back to that. I do wanna show you though, if you scroll down here, you can see some already pre built emails, that we got set up here. These are emails where if you've already you're working on some, you save and close it, you can always come back to it, which is pretty nice. You can save your work and come back to it later. Now when we go to build our email here, as Andrey noted, you do need to set up some defaults and that's gonna be with this little cog icon and he, rightly noted that I've set those up for us already. So I got some defaults here for our volunteer organization. I've got some default information on who this is being sent to. So with that in place, we're ready to get to some email building. I'm gonna hit this create email button up at the top, and I have two options in front of me here. I can either start with a blank layout, kind of there's your blank canvas, to kind of build this creation, and we'll just take a quick peek at what that entails. It's really just kind of building your layout of it. But even if you select one of these, you're not hard locked into any one layout. All the layouts you're seeing here are completely customizable. Even if I've selected this after the fact, I can move things around and change it if I want. So we deep dive into kind of starting from scratch in our, email, Blackbaud University class. For this particular, webinar though, I wanna go ahead and create an email, and I wanna show you some of the templates we have. And just really, it's a great bouncing off point. If you're not feeling super creative or you just wanna have some ideas thrown your way, template's gonna be a great place to start. So let's open up a template. We can see some examples here of some great templates. Again, these are all completely customizable as well. The color schemes, the pictures, the logos, where the text and everything lives, all completely customizable here. You can scroll down. There's quite a bit. So if you're not feeling creative, you got things to kinda lean on here as you, get into that email head space. But remember what our goal here was. We're trying to build a invitation for an event for our volunteers. So, hey. I have an event invitation template here. This might be a good spot for me. So I'm gonna go ahead and just select this and we'll we got somewhere to start, but if I wanna change any of this, we certainly could. But I wanna introduce you to the right side as we're getting into the email designer. There is your email builder. And it's broken up into three sections here. Our top section is content, and this is asking what do you wanna drag into your email? And we could just take a peek at some of the options here. Button, text, divider line, images, where do you want the image, and then you can pull in your social media, which is pretty nice. And it is just as easy as I've described it here. You can click and drag right into your email. Do I want some text up here? I certainly could do that. I wanna bring an image of my own. I can do that. And on that front, let me actually show you about the images. Like I said, we could customize these templates here. And when you're mousing over any one of these columns, you could just hit the little pin, the little pin icon up here and make some edits. So maybe I don't like the picture there that I have in the template. I can use one of my own And you can, in fact, just upload your own pictures. We got some examples here in the image library already. Who's that handsome devil? We got him in there as well. But we got some other images as well we can throw in. Hey. If this was for volunteers, maybe you could throw a picture of our volunteers to, include them. We could definitely do that. I don't know what this looks like. Let's go ahead and enter that and see what that does for us. Hey. You know what? That doesn't look too bad. We know who it's going to, and it's our volunteers. Right? So we can click and drag, bring in our own things here. I wanna also show you the next piece of this email builder though. Right? So we know we can click and drag these pieces in. The column section underneath this really just kinda breaks up what those different sections of your email are. So this was what it gave us in the template, but if I prefer to maybe have three columns and I wanna kinda separate it that with three different pictures or different things I wanna drag in for my content, I can do that. Let's make a button over here. Let's do an image over there. And it's just that easy to bring them on over. If you don't like the look out of any of this, you can go back into the column section and just x those out. Clear them. I kinda look at these. I've always when I talk about these, I look at these as like shelves. Where do you want the shelves and what do you wanna place on that shelf? Right? So I could have a shelf, with this and have a bigger shelf on the left side and a little shelf on the right. And then I can maybe put a little image there and a little text on the right. Right? Pretty straightforward. But we're looking pretty good here, but I wanna make sure this content is, going out to our volunteers. Right? So it's not an annual gala. This would be something where maybe I make an adjustment here and edit this. Right? So I'll go back up to content. I'll come back over here and we'll edit this. And this is our volunteer bash. Right? So let's maybe just change the language here. Looking good. And then our details, I got those as well. I actually have prepared as we, encourage, then maybe words of wisdom or what we wanna, send out to our team, and I can go ahead and put that here. We'll go ahead and hit that pin icon and put my own details. I'll go ahead and paste that in there. And what's nice about this too is because this is tied to your database, you can use merge fields. So when I'm sending this to somebody on that list we built earlier, instead of saying dear, you know, volunteer, I can point to their specific name. So what I would do here is in the section I want that merged field, you'll notice I have a section up here called merge. And that's what this is. I'll hit merge and I could pull in giving data. Maybe I wanna say thank you for your donation of this, but we're gonna just point to their name. Right? So I'll go to donor and I'll say their preferred name. So dear preferred name, we invite them to our invitation our our event and then we got that in place. Hey. This is looking pretty good. Now down here at the bottom, this is one of those buttons that Andrey was talking about. So if I wanna make sure they click that and maybe I've set up an event with tickets and things, I can go ahead and point this button to that event link. So, you know, we'll give an example here. Maybe we'll just say, we'll say volunteers, invite link. We've maybe set up an event on the side and we wanna include that. So now this button will point them there. You got full customization on this too. Maybe we don't like the color, change that up. Maybe I wanna add a nice little shadow to the bottom to really make it pop, make them know that this is a clickable button. Got that in place there. Looking good. Now we have this other option here for our social media as we've mentioned, and it's just as easy as click and dragging it over. We've got a little note here to let you know that, hey, this needs social media filled in. Right? So if I hit the little edit button here, you'll see I can fill that in with our social media we might have had here. If I don't need the social media, just like all the other bits of content, I could just x that out and remove it if I don't want it. But outside that, I think we're getting pretty close to what, we wanna send out here. We might wanna throw in a divider line. I could maybe wanna separate this up up a little bit, maybe pull in one of our colors, maybe change it from a dash line to a solid line, up that thickness a bit. Hey. We're looking we're looking good here. I'm loving it. So at the bottom here, you'll notice it's not a shelf or a column that I can edit. This is the footer and this is pulling in from those defaults we pulled with that cog icon in the beginning. That's the privacy policy link I put in, the name of my organization, the address that we're pulling from. Those are the defaults. The unsubscribe there, of course, is a way for them to unsubscribe from your mailings. That's gonna need to be required. But if we're happy with what we got, we've included everything we want, we can move into the third piece of our email, which is finalized. And you can either click three up at the top or you can just hit next to get you brought over there. Now on this screen, I'm just gonna start from the top and work our way down here. You can say, I'm trying to send this as an email right now or I wanna send this as an email. You can check this box. Or you could save this email and plug it in as a workflow or use it in a workflow. If you haven't learned about workflows or what those are, I highly recommend it. It's gonna really streamline your your work process. It's a way to automate sending out emails and actions. So if you're trying to use that, we could check that box. But for our demo purposes here, we'll keep it as a one time email. We can include some of those, defaults here. We can see those who it's from and those default emails that we set up in that default cog icon on that first page. This first box though is how do I want this saved internally? This isn't anything forward facing with your with your constituents. This is just how you're saving it internally. If maybe I were to save and close and come back to this. Right? So maybe we'll just call this volunteer, email invite. And, again, nothing forward facing so you can make this what you'd like. And then, of course, we need a subject. And if I'm gonna follow Andrey kinda words of wisdom here, I want something nice, eye catching, something they're gonna wanna click and open. Right? So I have one prepared here. I'm gonna go ahead and throw that in there. And, as long as all our required fields are filled in, what you'll note with the little red asterisk, we should be able to get this sent out. So I'm just gonna scroll down here. We've entered the details. We've set this as a one time email. I could also send this, a test email, which is pretty nice. If I wanna send it to my work email to see what it's gonna look like when it's sent to my personal email, you can test it there. A good recommendation is just to make sure you've tested on multiple, Outlooks or multiple different, inboxes. Blackbaud does test, to make sure it's, you know, compatible with most everything you come to expect, but it doesn't hurt to just make sure, it's looking or displaying as you expect it to. So you get that test email to try and, get that looking good. As we scroll down here, we now get to the point where I need to decide who am I sending this to. And that's where that list we built earlier comes into play. The one I've set it to just constituent code equals volunteer, and then I, elected to pull in some of those, or excluded some of those solicit codes. Well, if we open this recipient list here, hey. There's that list I built. So I'm gonna go ahead and click on that. I'm pointing just to those people. And then of the people on the list, I then get to decide which email do I wanna send to the people on that list. Right? I it's defaulting to the email that's marked as primary for the people on this list, but I could also say pull to their personal or pull to their business. We'll keep it to the mark as primary for here. And then the final step here is I'm deciding when do I want to send this. If I'm sending it right now, I can go for it. Send right away. If I'm trying to schedule this in the future, maybe the event's not for a little bit and I don't wanna send it too early, I could schedule this later. I could schedule that, set the date and time, and it would be set into my scheduled emails. Let me go ahead and do that now just so you can see where that lives on that main page. Let's say we'll schedule this for next Friday at maybe 9AM, and then I can hit that schedule button. It's letting you know how many people on your list it's going to send to, and it's about 67. And then we'll hit schedule it. Alright. So now with that in place here, we're back to our main page. And that brings us to some of the stats on this screen. I wanna take a deep dive into some of that. So we're gonna go into our fourth unit at this point. So give me just a moment. We'll switch back from the demo, and I'm gonna show you some of those stats here. Because, as you can see, we don't have any actual email sent out yet. So I'm gonna populate it with some data to kinda give you a better idea of what's going on here. So let me go ahead and stop sharing this and go back into our slides here. Just one moment. There we go. Thank you for your patience. Let's get us into unit four here. So the email's been sent out. What can I do with this some with this information? Right? So when an email gets sent out, it has a lot of great information here to kinda improve your, just different metrics that you can track for these, and we got some of those on screen here. So some of the things like open rate, click rate, bounce rate, what are those? Well, let's take a look at some of that. If we're looking at our emails, we can see up at the top here, this is talking about, our open rate, meaning how often are our emails even getting clicked to open. Right? Who's opening our emails? We can see the rate at which those are being opened, and that can be useful. Maybe our titles or subjects aren't eye catching enough or something like that. Right? So you can just use that and, kinda gauge when you're sending out multiple emails which ones are working and which ones are not. Then you have click rate. Click rate is saying, okay. They've opened it, but are they clicking the links we have in there? Right? I wanna make sure they're clicking my donation links. I wanna make sure they're clicking my event invitation links. This will track how likely or how, often they're clicking those links in the emails there. And then finally, our last last option here on screen is our bounce rate. So there's hard bounce and soft bounce, but this is to check we've sent these. How many are getting sent back to us for one reason or another? And, you know, we talk about some of the specifics in our classes here, but very simply soft bounce is gonna be something where it should have sent, but maybe their email box is full or something like that and it just couldn't be delivered properly. A hard balance implies that, the email is not correct or something's wrong in that capacity. So you can have knowing where it lies when you've sent that out. Now what we were looking at earlier is your averages as far as the open rate, click, click, bounce rate. Thankfully, you might be sending a lot of emails. You wanna break down how that one particular email is doing. And so you can see the open rate, the click rate, the bounce rate, the unsubscribes, for those particular emails you've sent out here. And what's really cool about these, is it also includes an option to show you you see transaction. Well, that's exactly just that. It shows you, okay. They've clicked. Did we actually get something out of that? Did they maybe go all the way through not just click our donation link, but they actually donated or they actually bought a event ticket? You can track how well that particular email deal did with that. And then I mentioned there's bounce, bounces and unsubscribe. Your emails will track that as well. This is again shocking if they had a hard bounce or a soft bounce. Did anybody hit that unsubscribe button that's down in the footer? You can track per email how many were clicking on those here. And all of these metrics that we've been looking at, the recipients, the, opens, those are, able to be generated into a list. So we talked about lists earlier, right, where we can filter down. Well, that all those metrics so I can see I had 10 opens. I can click on that number and it would generate a list over on the right side and it would show me who were the 10 people that clicked on that. Pretty nice. Right? That's super useful when you're trying to deal with, like, your bounces. Right? Which emails were sent, and returned? I wanna maybe get a list of those particular people and that could just help your, outreach. Right? If my emails are getting bounced and it's a hard bounce, maybe I need to reach out to that constituent and say, hey. If I have their phone number on file, hey. We tried to send you some email communication, but it's getting bounced. Is there another email or another way you prefer to be communicated with? So being able to track and see a list of those is just invaluable. And we mentioned that soft bounce and hard bounce, I threw it up on screen, but, yeah, there's good to know there's differences there. And what's nice about just soft bounce and hard bounce is for the metrics that we're looking at, it will, in fact, list on the, records whether a record was soft bounce or hard bounce. So you don't have to be wondering which one it was. It will let you know. And it's gonna be right on here. So on everybody's constituent record, you're gonna have a panel for email history. If I sent out this volunteer email to whoever was on that list, on that constituent's record, there is a panel for email history and you'll see the email we sent, when it was sent, and then it will let you know, was it bounced? Was it, where did they click on it? You can see those on screen there. It will let you know what that particular constituent did with that email. Pretty great. So, again, just as a a refresher on some of the things we've discussed here today, when you're sending out these, emails, there's a lot of things you wanna consider. Use those solicit codes. If your constituents have, requested a certain way to be communicated with, you wanna respect those. And in fact, a lot of countries have specific laws on respecting those. So you just wanna make sure if you're gonna be using communications, those are being, considered. So solicit codes can be mapped in a lot of different ways there. There we go. Sorry. It was give me a, pause there. But and if you've liked what we've talked about here, again, we do a deep dive of a lot of this in our Blackbaud University classes. So I invite you to check us out over there. So that does bring me into our last, section here. And I'll go ahead and invite Andrey to come back on screen here. And let's talk about, if that was something that's interesting to you, where you can take this from here. Thank you so much, Branden. That was an excellent demonstration. So I think everyone was really, enjoyed it, really happy with it. I was also clapping off camera as well. So really proud of you in that demonstration. And as Bernadette already mentioned before too, if you are wanting to get more hands on experience with email, come see us in our wonderful Blackbaud Campus, which is a great little segue for our last little section here. And so definitely, if you have not visited us there before, why not? Wait. Wait. Wait. No. Come on. But come over to Blackbaud Campus so you can actually browse and see what courses are being offered. You have a chance to control your learning experience, your learning journey. You can keep it as simple as searching for that preferred course or that preferred theme that you're focusing on at top of the screen, or you could also maybe look into some of our learning paths. Depending on the product, it may be grouped together by a theme or together by a role. This gives you a way to kinda figure out what is your primary focus. Are you leaning more towards focusing on data entry? Are you more focusing on your role as a fundraiser? You can access that through our product catalogs going into RE NXT and then, of course, choosing the option to explore the product catalogs. My personal favorite way to go about this is to go to the product page and use that search functionality. If you haven't been to the product pages in a while, let's go there at the class, of course. But on the product pages, we have it split up, so you can actually search for our live classes as well as our on demand classes too. For example, if I wanna learn more about email, I can type email into that search area. And the great thing about this, when you're searching, is looking at the course title is also looking at the course description too. That way, if you're like, I wanna get more into email. I had this amazing webinar by Brandon Andre, but I wanna explore more what email can do. Just type in the email into either one of those, search areas to find what you need. Live classes, of course, are led with instructors like myself or Branden on demands or by yourself so you can go at your own pace as slow or as fast as you want. This is also too on that product page. You can kinda see it in the screenshot where it has that, mention of the sample database labs. So when you visit that page after the webinar, hint hint, let's also go ahead and explore a sample database labs too. So you can maybe get into your own sample environment for a set amount of time to get some more practice on your own. The other thing we have to also talk about, of course, is BBU days. I really hope that you're excited. I hope that a lot of you folks are going this year. I'll be there this year. I'll be spending on the morning time focusing on the k 12 classes. In the afternoon, I'll be working on those advanced classes. So if you are someone in the advanced side of things with RE NXT, I hope to see you there. I'll be teaching the optimized donation form class, and I'll also be teaching one of my favorite classes, which is like an advanced challenge your web view skills. So if you're up for the challenge, I hope to see you there. And then also too, again, let's not stop the learning here. Because, again, this was just like a little appetizer. Come on over to Blackbaud or Blackbaud campus for your entree and your desserts. So take our email classes. Take our WebView fundamentals. Again, at the, BBU day, I'm teaching the advanced version of this class called challenge your WebView skills. But if you wanna maybe try to test your skills in kinda part one and then maybe come see me in BBU date for a part two of that class, that's not a bad idea. Now, again, though, make sure you take the fundamentals. Let's make sure we start with the basics before we start to explore those more advanced classes. So we hope to see you there. And then most importantly, thank you so much for joining. I hope you enjoy our overview, our webinar for today for email. Hope you learned some great information. Before you leave, make sure you go to that doc section so you can grab that FAQ and also so you can, of course, sign up for some of our wonderful classes in BBU, Black Bayou campus for your email needs. That's all that I have for now. Branden, any closer remarks from you, our email expert? We hope to see you in class. Thank you so much, everybody. Thank you so much, everyone. Have a great afternoon or day wherever you're at in the world. Bye for now.
