Transcript for "Why Small Schools Choose Blackbaud": Hey, everyone. My name is Elizabeth Botenieri, and I am part of our marketing team here at Blackbaud. Thank you so much for joining us for today's webinar, Why Small Schools Choose Blackbaud. A few callouts as we get settled. The webinar audio will be broadcast through your computer speakers, so hopefully you can all hear me. A reminder that you will receive the recording to this about twenty four hours after the fact. If you need captions, you can hover over the stage and click the CC button on the bottom of the screen to turn your captions on and off. If you encounter any audio or technical issues, such as the slides freezing, usually a quick refresh of your browser is the best way to get it working again. And worst case scenario, you can leave and log in again. Please click on the q and a on the top right to submit any questions that you have. And when submitting your questions, we just ask that you be specific. The more details we have, the better that we can address your question. If we can, we'll answer at that moment. And if not, we'll save some time at the end or do our best to follow-up after. Next to q and a, you should see the docs area. Please click on this to access several links and resources that you may want to access during today's presentation as well as save for future reference, and you can adjust any settings by using the cogwheel at the bottom of the event space. We're gonna have one more face join us briefly on the stage. I wanted to let everyone know that one of my colleagues, Patrick Kelly, is on the webinar today, and he's ready to message with you. Patrick is an extension of our sales team, and he's here to answer sales specific questions and further understand your current pain points. Talking with him is very easy, five to ten minutes over chat or the phone, and it's the fastest way to get information on how Blackbaud can help meet your school's specific needs. He'll get you connected with your account executive for next steps as quickly as the next business day, and entering this process with us gives you access to more in-depth personalized demos during your discovery phase. We'll help you get customized pricing and solutions tailored to meet your specific needs. There's also a link at the bottom of the docs area where you can grab some time on Patrick's calendar at your convenience. And with that, I am happy to hand the baton over to Will Redway. Thanks, Will. Thanks, Elizabeth. Thanks, Patrick. And thanks all for coming today. Appreciate it. I think as sort of setting the table, I wanna let you guys all know that, I'm not a technical dope. I'm more of a school guy. And I'm gonna sort of take you through, you know, where this all came from. I went to Colgate University in Upstate New York. Absolutely adored it. Literally did not leave, the stage, went straight to, work in the alumni and development office, saw people in the middle of the street, said this is the best place ever. You should send your kids here. You should send your money here. So I've been basically a passionate school person forever. Did that also at MIT, and I became the director of development at Saint Mark's School where I humbly became the winer in chief, of all things, you know, how we can tell our story better at the school. I think that we were perceived as the school we were fifteen years before. Parents were having to log into five different places to get to things. So all in all, it was sort of a a difficult thing. And finally, my head of school said, you know, go solve the problem as opposed to whining about it. And so I did what probably some of you on this call are doing, which is that I brought in a a bunch of various companies to sort of have this conversation. And in the end, ended up meeting a guy named, Travis Warren who was starting a company called, Whipple Hill at the time. But what I liked about the conversation, and it's gonna be partly about the way I'm gonna have the conversation with you all today, was basically how do we tell our story better? How does a prospective family understand who we are? How does a, how does a teacher do their job? How does a development director tell a story better or an admission director take someone through the process? And I think, you know, that ability to do that in our conversation about that is what made me love the thing so much that I kinda went to work there and with Blackbaud, after the Whitfield Hill acquisition, you know, many years ago and sort of taking this leadership team and having the conversation. The key thing with small schools, though, is that, it really it isn't different. I think the benefit that I'm gonna show you today is basically that this was designed, you know, from the very beginning for small schools. So what I'm gonna do, from the start is I'm gonna spend about ten minutes just sort of getting into the how we develop the software to be the way it is. Basically, how it was developed for small schools from the very beginning, you know, knowing sort of the key players in that sort of parent student teacher triangle. And then I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna log in and sort of take you through, here's how our prospective family inquires and applies, and then how do they get in, you know, and how does, current parents see what's going on, seeing the value of what's going on with their kid at school. And I'm gonna take you through the process so that you can see a little bit of enrollment management, learning management, student information system. I'm not gonna go through all the pieces. I'm actually really gonna focus in on the pieces that, that a lot of our smaller schools choose. For any of you who are on the line that might already have something of ours, you know, whether it's the website or Raiser's Edge or Financial Edge, I think you'll get a lot out of it as well because we'll we'll talk about how all these things go together. And then at the end, we'll talk turkey. You know, this is roughly the timelines that it takes to sort of get some of this stuff done, as well as, you know, here's how we price and and off we go. So for those of for for those of you who are new, you know, to what Blackbaud does, I just wanna sort of set the table on the big picture, which is, you know, we basically looked at this entire process of, you know, communicating amongst, you know, private schools from the very beginning. Meaning, build a website, that looks and feels like me to then being able to be, yep. Let me inquire. Let me apply, let me sign a contract, let me pay tuition, put me in a class. Let me see all the things that are going on in the classroom. Let teachers do their jobs to do all those things. We also know our coaches and all those, you know, all those different roles that many people play. Hopefully, you love the place so much that you give it a million dollars, you know, on the fundraising side, have that all fall into your general ledger. And of course, on the tuition management side, also have that part feed into your general ledger. That's what we do. We do all of those things. But I thought it would be helpful because I think the perception a lot of times is that Blackbaud is a very big company and we, you know, work with big schools and all that. And we do work with some big schools. But on average, our schools are smaller because that's the sort of independent school, private school world. We have hundreds of schools that are that have less than a 50 students. We have hundreds more that are between a 5,300. And what I wanna sort of assure everyone is that this is how everything that we've built, you know, for those that are those schools that are between, you know, seventy five and three hundred, they tend to get the enrollment management, student information, learning management, tuition management. That seems to be the place that they start. We can help with websites, but we can attach to those. We can help with fundraising, and we can help with, you know, all the other pieces. But again, we can we can sort of put those in. So I'm gonna focus a lot of my conversation today on how small schools can better communicate when you when you put it all together and let you know that this is basically Blackbaud's wheelhouse. This is not a new thing that we're trying working with small schools. This has been in our foundation for the last, you know, thirty years that we've been that we've been working with them. So, what I thought I'd start with is the the reasoning that I'm hoping many of you are, you know, on the call. But it's like, why does the phone ring here at Blackbaud? I'm one of small schools, like, thinking about this. You know, it's like, what's that thing that breaks the camel's back? I worked at a school for a long time. You know, we tended to solve problems iteratively, but ultimately sort of get to that moment where you're like, Oh my gosh, I'm telling people to go all different places. My teachers are cranky because I'm telling them to go to a whole bunch of places. My parents are cranky because they get a newsletter from me and all this. So that I've got you know, I need this one stop shop for my teachers and families. And, what you know, got all these different systems. I'm trying to MacGyver them together. So, hey, when it's time. I need to sort of talk to somebody who knows how to put these things together. The other thing is that it's confusing to the parents. So it's not just confusing internally about managing these systems. Everybody's heart's in the right place, but, you know, if you're at the lower school sending newsletters, this teacher likes to send emails all the time, you're telling him to log in at least over here to go get grades and, you know, over here for something else. It's confusing. Parents love their kids. They'll say everything's fine, but it's still very confusing to them. And if you're trying to get word-of-mouth marketing, that's a little that's a little tough. So they don't always know where to get the the experience there. So, and then on the teacher side, this is one of the things for all of us who have worked at schools. Retention of families is critical. Retention of teachers is also critical. So when you have when you're making it hard for teachers to, you know, go over here and use this grading thing and go over here to put the coach score in, if they're also gonna be a coach, go do this other thing to be an advisor. Not only is that sort of a pain, but it makes them feel less effective because the information they're putting there isn't necessarily getting in front of the families that they're, you know, that they care about and and the students that they care about. So it affects retention, not only of the parents who aren't getting the information from those teachers because they're logging into places, but it's also painful for the teachers to do that. So, ultimately, the the last one, perhaps the most important one where I'm gonna start the, you know, the demonstration is, you know, we make prospective families jump through a lot of hoops. And some schools might have it look really good on the front, meaning, hey. Here's an inquiry form. Click this. Go here. So it's like it it it appears smooth. I find everything I'm looking for. That's good. But the back end is, oh my gosh. I'm taking this manually. I'm putting this over into Excel. I'm doing, you know, this and putting it into Constant Contact to send them out. So everybody's got variations of all of those things. And any one of these four things that you're seeing here, is a reason for people to sort of talk to us. And sometimes we do a little bit, sometimes we do more. But it's the beauty of sort of thinking about it in, you know, broader strokes that's that's key. So what does that solution look like when you're looking at, you know, all of these these these problems? And so how is what's the success? So if you're starting to get into this process of looking at it, I beg you not to sort of come up with a checklist of functionality. Because ultimately, what we're trying to do is to build an online community where parents get to log in to one place, and they can actually see the value. Meaning that they can see how the three, four, five awesome adults that are in their kid's life are communicating. One could be a coach, one could be an advisor, one could be all that. You guys are gonna decide pedagogically what you share. But I should be able to log into one place and be able to see that in a in a way. And I'm gonna show you, you know, in sort of a 50 yards wide, two inches deep approach to that. Because ultimately, the success and where I worked, and I'm sure you're all in a different place where you're competing either, you know, against the local public school or another private school that's in the area. But the key is that you're just being clear about, you know, what you're doing and and that you can prove that your unique brand and way of educating is working. And that you're basically selling that that that value to the people of to the families and that they can see it all the time. And so when we talk to schools about what they're trying to do when they come to us and say we're gonna build a new piece here, It's not just a technical conversation. It's how do those end users get to see that value? So even if you don't choose us, or perhaps you've already chosen us and done this, I'm going to beg all of you when you're doing an evaluation. It's easy to come up with a spreadsheet. You still should. I needed to do x y z. But you should sort of think not sort of. You should think from the the external user and what they need and how you are presenting it. So, you know, how do you show prospective families currently that you're the right fit for their child? And this to me is a mix of website. It's the mix of their first interaction of whether they're coming to an open house, an inquiry form, all those things. Every school sort of does these things, but now sit in a room and have a conversation, be on the end user side, come into that, talk about the mix between web and personal. So it's like, how do you go go about doing that? It's critical. And then the key thing really is that then once they become families, right, and now they've got coaches and advisors or, you know, kindergarten, first grade, whatever it is, how do those those people that are in their child's life and in the parents' lives, how do you communicate to them? And this is, I speak on this a lot. You know, are you sending, you know, three texts a day? Are you sending newsletters every Thursday? Are they logging in over here to do this? What is that experience? Is it disjointed? Do they need three passwords? Is it three different user interfaces? Is it is it clunky? You know, that's that's a thing about how do they see their child's progress is something you need to evaluate because that also crosses academic things, sports things, you know, what their you know, are they being civilized kids? You know, those types of things. And then ultimately, how the market perceives you, how can you build, you know, this word-of-mouth marketing isn't just pretty website. You want parents logging in going, oh my god. You gotta see what's what's happening here. And that's the buzz that happens because all of us I'm sure many of you on the line are parents. If I'm thinking about sending my kid to another school, yes, I Will Will go through their process, but I'm just gonna talk to another parent whose kids are there, and they're gonna say, hey. You know, how how is that for them? So we gotta create you know, gotta get a lot of families to log on to see that value. And then you have to run the school. And you need leadership to be like, what is the information I need to run this school? And a lot of people are like, I've got this Excel thing and a pivot table, and, you know, I'm doing all these things. And everybody's heart's in the right place. I'm not knocking anybody. But these are the ultimate outcomes that you should have a discussion internally about what do you need. And you should be asking companies how is that going to be presented to the people who need it. Parents, students, teachers, administrators, what's that look like? What's that feel like? And then just use it and be like, oh, how's how's that work? So what we've done and what I'm gonna show you today is that when you look at ours, the idea is our solution should be able so that parents will see the value of their kids' education every day at the school. And I call this the mastery of the mundane. Calendars, news, bring the spikes today, you know, whatever it is, you know, for for sports. They should just be able to log in and use it and occasionally see that great stuff that's going on. From the teacher side, the only way families get to see that is that the teachers, coaches, advisors, administrators that need to communicate with them, they need to be able to go into a place and easily do their job. Our job, Blackbaud, should be about getting that content underneath the right person's nose. And then when it comes to the school leaders, okay, all this data, whether it's coming from enrollments, student information systems, all of these places, you need it to bubble up so you can see over time whether you're going to a board meeting, you know, how this is working. So you need to have that information to come up to those. Everybody's trying to do these things. I'm sure if you're on the call now, you're like, oh, we kinda do that. We will do a little bit of this. And my thing is that that's not really, you know, what you need to do. It's like because when we nail this, when you do this well, and parents do see the value, there is very tangible things that relate to dollars and word-of-mouth and that this is what happens. If they log in and it's easy to, you know, you know, pay their bills, it's easy for them to pay their bills right next to where they're sitting, their kid is struggling in charge, they will pay their their bills on time. You will have better cash flow. Volunteers, alums, parents who are, you know, going gonna give you dollars beyond the tuition, they will see the value. They will start giving more money. They will. And then you can also say that, hey, they're logging, they're seeing all this stuff. Oh my god, my kid was in a frog with a with a bug. And they're they're playing with, you know, iPads, and they're doing all this sort of stuff. And they will start telling parents, whether you started a unique program, about these things. That's that genuine word-of-mouth piece. But the only way you can do that is if teachers have tools to better communicate in one place. So they're coming in and just doing their job. We're gonna filter it back up to the ones that are there. So the results, if we nail this, if you do this well, is that there's a much better chance that, you know, smaller schools that might have tighter budgets and sort of key things, and you're sort of living from tuition check to tuition check, when people see it, this long term sustainability, the bigger picture comes from families seeing, you know, that transparent communication every day, which is what I'm gonna show you. So let's kinda start with the big picture. This is the experience most families use every day. You know, I need to go do something with FedEx. I'm gonna log in to L. L. Bean and buy a pair of pants. I'm gonna go to Amazon and get what I need. I gotta go to my Bank of America thing and move stuff from checking to savings. This is the modern day experience. And big picture wise, this is what Blackbaud has done for private schools, which is we're gonna take the content and information that is unique to you, and we're going to make it so prospective families get to see this part and parents get to see this part. Pedagot you're deciding pedagogically what you're gonna share. That's gonna be all unique to you. But you're not gonna have to teach someone how to use it. Right? That's the whole point with these. I didn't have to when I go to, you know, Facebook or anything like that, you don't have to teach me how to use it. And most fam most schools are like, hey. Over here, we're gonna send this thing. We're gonna do this thing. And when you nail this, you will have a place where families can come into one place and be able to see all the things they need to see about what's going on in their kid's life. And I'm gonna show you those pieces. And we're also gonna be able to sort of take the teachers' lives, who are also coaches and advisors, and allow them to sort of get into one place and dig into that. So ultimately, what I'm gonna show you is not the entire part of the process because we don't have all of those things, but I'm gonna show you that experience where, you know, parents can see that part. So I'm gonna take you through an enrollment management piece where you can inquire, you can apply, you can sign a contract, you can, you know, sign up for tuition, get put in a class, and I'm gonna sort of show you how you can see what's going on with your kids and see how you know, that tuition piece. And I'm also gonna show you just briefly, from a parent's perspective I'm sorry, from the teacher perspective, also how they can do their job and be able to share all this information in one place. So before I dive in, is there any questions that have popped up? And I'm sorry I'm not seeing it, but, I think I might just actually push them to later. But if if there's anything there, just, you know, bust in it, at any time. So before I jump right in, I wanna I'm gonna show you a couple of things that happen when you put this this all together. Right? And when you have enrollment management together with tuition management together with learning management or student information system, you can actually use an outside learning management system. But when you have all of those pieces together, immediately, both parents and teachers now I've got this set to wide open so you can see all this. In one place, you're going to be able to see performance and medical and emergency information and where my kid is right now. You know, so those are those are things that you're gonna decide who sees what. So if there's anybody on the, you know, on this webinar right now whose the hairs in the back of your neck are going up because you're like, oh my god. We would never share that. You'll may you'll be making those choices. But the key is that the data is all in one place where you can see it. So down to the individual level where I can see that about my kid or my students if I'm the teacher that's there. And from a, you know, a head of school, running the place, I can also see stuff that relates to enrollment management and academics and things together. So if I come into this dashboard and you can see the other dashboards that are here, whether it's academics or, you know, enrollments or all those, but I can see things. And this is just a you know, you can make this be whatever you want. But I can see the overall admission progress. I can see how, if you're using some of our other tools, you know, how the fundraising is doing. I can see which candidates from which sending schools are doing well in math. So when you start to see the data that goes across here, now you can sort of, you know, moderate what your the decisions you're making at the school because you have these that that information that's, that's in there. Same thing now. I'm that head of school. I wanna see the at risk students. We had midterms yesterday who were the ones that struggled so I can go down the hallway and, you know, tell them to buck up or tell them they should have done better. I can see how my teams are doing by grade. So a lot of these things are are what you would expect. Right? Is that I can, you know, basically pop in here, and see, you know, the the pieces that you need on the admission side, so many things. And I think for small schools in particular, this is where you wanna be able to make sure you're spending your time in the places that you need. So I'm gonna take you through, now a sort of the prospective family's experience. And I'm clicking on a few sites here just so that you know. We work with so many small schools that would look and feel like you, but we can easily attach this to your existing web site. So you don't have to use us to to build your web. And you guys have lots of, you know, various spots where, you know, we can easily go into your admission section, put the inquiry forms, financial aid forms, you know, tuition management forms. All those things would just be embedded right in. And that's that's what we do with with many of our schools. So what I wanted to just sort of show you is whether we do it or not, I'm gonna take you through, I'm gonna be Peter Abel. So this is our character for the day that I'm gonna take you through so that I can show you a lot of things in a short amount of time. So Peter is a, he's a parent of, four kids at the school, one in lower school, one in the middle school, one in the upper school, and one that's applying. He's also a biology teacher. He's also the soccer coach. He's also the robotics club advisor. He's also, you know, dorm supervisor. He's also the nurse. So I so that I can show you a lot of things, but you know this person at your school, the one that that wears five hats that cross over administrative to, teaching to all of those things. And when I come into the system, it doesn't show me everything. Everything. It just shows me my pieces. So I'm gonna take you through that. And we're gonna start by I'm gonna use Harlem Academy, a great school that we work with. And I'm sure you probably might have a website that looks like this with a similar navigation. Don't get cute on navigation. People are looking for things now. Most times, they're looking at it on a phone. Where's the admission buttons? Where's the pieces? Apply now. Donate. Learn more. Any sort of activity piece should be right there. If you were all of our, sites that we've developed have been heat maps to make sure that people can find that, that it works gorgeously on a phone and they can still find it. So those are things that we do, but I'm sure you can do, you know, pieces that, for yourself. You're gonna pop in, start the application. The reason I'm showing you this slide is that, one of the points that I went as I'm as I dive in here live is that if you have a different application for kindergarten or first through five or applying through grade six as they do do here, you might have a different application fee. You might have different, things that need to be attached to an application. The beauty of what I'm about to show you is that as soon as I choose this from the application side and I fill out and I log in, this is now going to help me already set up their contracts, already set up a specific checklist that you need from them. They're not picking and choosing based on some directions you gave them. It's only gonna show them what they need. So when they pop in and they took take they come in to create their account, when they choose that primary school or elementary school or middle school, immediately, the whole process from now through their whole admission process, to the type of contract they're gonna sign, to the exact tuition management piece and how that's going to go into your, your financial software, whether it's ours or somebody else's, is done now. So for a small school, this is gorgeous, and I'm gonna I'm gonna take a look right now. So, I'm gonna stop sharing this. And if someone could give me the quick thumbs up that you see, Let me dive in here. Oops. Hold on. There we go. Can I just get a quick confirmation that you see Olivia? I'm gonna go with a yes, because I'm not seeing we good? You're good. Thank you very much. You're good. So when when I I'm now going to the cooking show. You're seeing Brookfield School here because this is our demo environment. But now I'm logged in, as a reminder, as Peter Abel, the one who has multiple kids that are in here. But if I'm a prospective applicant, I am immediately going to be presented with the process that you showed me. Meaning I went to the front, I chose kindergarten, I chose, you know, this level, and this checklist lines up directly with that. So, you know, this I've got set to show off. So if you're doing shadow visits, you can sign up for here. Our enrollment management system includes all the events and pieces. They can see exactly the things that they have done. You know, these things are checked off. From the admission director side, you can you can send out something every Monday saying, thanks so much, Peter, for, Olivia's information. We have her media release form, her parent view, English thing, and we need these other things. Would you like to do them now? So all those sort of modern things, just like you get from Delta Airlines three days before a flight saying, hey. We're so excited to have you, but do you wanna pick a seat? Do you wanna do those things? This is the modern system built into our tools so that someone can log in and do these things here or you can nudge them from from behind. And so I'm gonna pop in here to the application just for one second, not to show you, wow. Guess what? Blackbaud knows how to build an application. My point here is that this look and feel, which they can be on a phone, they can be on a tablet, they can be, you know, here, is going to be the same thing they're going to be using for the next forty years. Whether it's the Zoom permission slip, whether it's their, you know, paying tuition, whether it's filling out their medical forms. Our point here is not to have a lot of different tools at your be collecting this and it begins their record. So as we go through and go, you know, family, school, and testing, these will be unique to you. But I also wanna show you, look, they're already filled in because they already filled out on the inquiry form. So we wanna make this as easy as possible, for them to, you know, to dive in and, you know, get to get to what they need. So from an overall process standpoint, we're gonna they can go through, sign up for interviews. And with all of these things, and I don't have time to go kinda go through all of them, but whether they're collecting audition videos, whether you're scheduling a tour, there's an administrative piece on the back that is so helpful for small schools because as I just mentioned, you know, if you have, there might be a a nine step process here, but it might be a 16 step process from your side saying, hey. Call them to set up. All of it's sort of gonna march you through a process that makes it, where the the system's doing a lot of the pieces and you get to add that personal touch and all those. Can spend your time on the personal touch as opposed to worrying about the business of getting things through. So then it becomes time for you to, accept someone. So I'm gonna go to decision and I just wanna let you know that the place I worked, we called every single person and told them that they were accepted. So you'll all have your your things. I think small schools do this best. In fact, some small schools that we know actually create a personalized video for every single kid that's in there. But when it's time to accept, you can still do it manually. You know, meaning send out a a mail merge and stuff like that. Our system can still do it, you know, the old fashioned way. But if you wanna come in here and do this one number one, you can have them say, let us know your decision. And this is not them signing a contract, but it is you knowing in very short order. And I can tell you that within thirty six to forty eight hours of you sending this out, you're gonna have a very good sense of what the year's likes because people will that's how many most people will actually fill this out and let you know. You'll also see down here financial assistance awarded $3,000. Now some people do financial awards after, some people do it before. It's up to you. But our financial aid piece is built into this. We can actually also take other financial aid pieces and have it be in here. So if you want to make the award as as part of it, you can do that. If you wanna do it later, I'll show you how that works as well. But what I wanna show you is, like, we get this. We know schools do it differently. You know, you kinda have that that whole process. So once you're in, you know, ta da, I I can actually, one more thing to show you here is that you have the ability from the admission office to send out lots of notes, and the family can come in and be like, where was that? And here's everything that you ever, you know, sent to them, saw them, and guess what, on the back end. You can also see this for every single applicant who saw what, who opened what. You can you know, you've got all those, basically, the ability to see any communication. The family can see the individual stuff that they've got, and you on the back end can go into each individual folder and see what they looked at and what they did. So delightful. So when it's time for you to say, I've accepted them, fantastic. You've let me in. This is great. And this yellow bar that you've probably been staring at at the top is one of the best things, arguably the best thing we ever invented. Because, when I when I come in here, if the yellow bar is here, it means that there's something that I need to do. So remember that Peter is the parent of five, and he's got, you know, lots of different things going on. But from an enrollment standpoint, as soon as you have accepted these families, it will automatically enroll them in our tuition management if you're using our tuition management. So know, hey. You got accepted. Now go sign in to this other thing where we're gonna do tuition management. It's automatically going to bring me, into that. So I'm gonna pop in here to enrollment contracts, but it's not a separate enrollment contracts. It's really again, I've got five, different kids. These are all the forms that we need you to sign. And guess what? They're all mostly filled out. We're just having you to go in there. So if we're gonna go into the tuition management contract, just as an example, I'm gonna pop in here. And shocker, it looks just like the application form I had you fill out during the process. I'm not giving you another thing and a whole another user interface. I'm popping in here. This is that nice little, you know, you know, the contract that says you're gonna be a good kid. And if you're not gonna be a good kid, I get to kick out. I think we all know what those ones are. That's the basic one there. But that's not one separate one. Boom. On we go to the next one. Okay. This is the price that we agreed to. It's $13,000. If you guys are in places where you've now got tuition grants by state, all of those things can be handled in here. Yep. We agree. $9,500. Lovely. On we go. Now we're going to check. Now one of the nice things about this is it fills in all their information. If they're missing something that you deem critical, home phone number, mobile phone number, our system will stop just like on many forms that you get saying, you need to fill that out. So but it's already filling out the information that we already have. Payment plan options, this one actually was already filled out, but this would I pull it down one, three, five months, whatever you wanna do, that will all be up to you. And then you're going to decide on your payment methods. All of this is going to be here, and I'm in. Right? I'm collected, and now I've collected all this information, and then this is this is in tuition management. Tuition management can act as your subledger for all things tuition. And you're going to notice as well that when I come in here and I've accepted and I've done all of these things, now I can go to my resource board. And when I come into my resource board, what am I gonna see? Tuition management? I don't have to log in because I'm already logged in. It already knows who I am. And I was having a little bit of a problem with this, little while ago because I'm on a demo environment. But I trust this will open up. Bingo. So, when I pop into here, now it knows I'm Peter. Here is what I owe this month. I can go in and get those details. Yep. This is when, with the way that you have your screen sharing, we're still Yes. Before. Thank you. You're welcome. Let me I can sing a song. There we go. Now we're good. It's alright. Thank you. So I went in and clicked, you know, tuition management and up this pops. I'm not logging in. It already knows who I am. It already knows my multiple kids. I don't have to log in to separate separate accounts and all those things. So I can I can see exactly what I owe? Here's the tuition for the different kids, the activity fee, the prompt. It's so all of those things can be done. I can come up here and pay. I can purchase optional items if you wanna give, you know, the ability for, people to go in and buy a sweatshirt and do all those things. And so all of this is here. I can go back in time. I've got all my tax pieces. So everything is good. So now I'm gonna go over there. Share this tab instead. Are you back to seeing the parent? Am I getting good at this? You're getting better. We're at the resource. We're at we're at the resource board, if that's still where you wanna be. K. That's where I wanna be. Great. So my point here is that, notice what I'm showing you at your schools or whatever might be multiple systems. And it's not the end of the world if you have multiple systems, but you want to make it incredibly easy, to to get, the families to do what you need them to do. And that's all part of it. And in addition to signing their, their tuition, the other part that I just wanna sort of check is that everybody has those summer mailings. And here's I need you to fill this out and fill this out and fill this out. And our whole thing is, again, it knows all of my kids. It knows that this one's younger, so they need to do this part. This one's on a sports team. They need to do this part. I need to fill out the financial aid application all from here. Most of it's already filled out, but we're basically saying, this is all you need. Just come in here and do this. So, now the exciting part. So I'm in. Woo hoo. You've accepted me. We've discussed all the billing. We've gotten all those things got together. Now's the good part. I'm a parent. Right? And when I come in, I'm gonna sort of orient you to the screen a little bit here, is that when I come in as as a new parent, I wanna tell you that we have, studied this, and we we studied this, where we literally brought private school parents in on Wednesday, teachers on Thursday, admin on Friday, and said use the system. And what we found out was that parents navigate by their kids. They need to see a lot of information with perhaps multiple kids and, you know, about what's going on in sports and all those things. Teachers, which I'm gonna show you in a little bit, is all about doing. And so as you're evaluating systems and doing this, put yourself in the in this hand. And and my key thing is our what we get very excited about is when you go with us. And within, you know, three or four months, we've got 70 or 80% of families logging in and using the system because they're finding everything that they need to. I'm not teaching them it's gonna be here. So when I I I come in, we developed things that, relate to schools. Every school needs directories. Now remember, I'm logged in as this guy who's who does everything, so I can see all of these directories. But when if I was just a parent, perhaps I would see just the parent and faculty and staff directory. And when I come into my calendar, I'm gonna come back to this one in a second because it's so awesome. This calendar knows who I am, knows who my kids are, knows what teams they're on, who their advisors are, knows that they have an after school activity today. All of that information, I'm gonna be able to see it in one place. When I come into news, again, it's also going to know me. So, hey, school closed today is an important thing that everybody needs to know. Come from behind win for Brookfield is here because it knows that my son is on the baseball team. The third grade weekly bulletin is here because it knows that my daughter is with miss Edmonds in third grade. Extra extra read all about it. There's this awesome thing that happens to the school. I'm the communications director. I want everybody to see this. So I think you get it. This works, you know, similar to, you know, Facebook and other things where I wanna see that information that's really coming from my aunts and uncles and friends. But in the middle of that, I'm seeing the other things that, you know, you wanna you wanna show as well. So all of this information, you know, being able to sort of come to one place is great. But the beauty is the very first time I log in to the calendar, it is going to recognize me and my kids. So over here on the left, you can see Henry and Janey and everything else. And I don't have to come in and check boxes and and, you know, make this, you know, exactly for me. I have the ability to change it. I'm gonna show you that in a second. But literally, from the moment I come in here, it's going to know who my kids are, and it's it's Meatloaf Monday, and there's varsity practice. When I click on this, it's gonna tell me which field to go to, and it's gonna give me directions. It knows the homework for my kids is here. If you wanna share this again, you guys will make pedagogical decisions as to whether you're showing this type of information to families. I just wanna show you what's what's possible. And if I'm a savvy parent, I can actually go over here. And if I wanna dump this onto my iPhone or whatever thing I've got, I can take this same level of detail, and I can literally take this and just have it automatically go to my phone, and it will update every fifteen minutes. So my hip will buzz if if the, calendar's changed. So all this information is, great. This is sort of like how I get my my daily information. I'm gonna go to the resource board one more time. Obviously, when I came here, lots of schools have sections like this. Here's a parent section, and you go in and you see lots of, you know, downloads and go over here for this PDF form. Everything here is smart. Now because he has kids in the lower, middle, and upper, he's seeing all things. But if I had kids in just the lower school, it would show me only that. Less is more. Doesn't stop me from seeing what's in the middle and upper. I can still go see those things. But this is the type of thing where where we've gotten very good, at being able to sort of, you know, nail, what it is that people need so that they come in and and use it all the time. In addition, if I want specific things sent to me, I know lots of you on the phone are probably texting and sending, sending information, right when I come in, and I, you know, come into the spot, it's going to actually walk me right through if you want to. It knows that I'm a faculty member. It knows I'm a parent. It's gonna walk me through just like when Google comes up with something new. It sort of says, hey. Here's great new stuff, And you can you can take me through this. And in addition from a, sending information to me, I can actually go in here to notifications. And if I don't want to be logging in all the time to see this information, I can choose to say, hey. Email me or text me when one of my kids' assignments is added or changed or games changed. So if you're if you prefer to be you know, have a lot of people give you information, you know, have the system automatically send it to you, you can set it up like that. So similar to ESPN or something like that where I give ESPN the permission to send me the scores of the Yankee game every three innings, I give them permission to do that. I want that as opposed to schools, which just tend to send things all the time. And, again, I love my kid. I'll try to look at all this, but it's not a clear way to communicate. So now, I'm gonna go specifically into, what makes this system so strong, which is when I come in here, it knows all of my kids. And I'm just gonna pick Janie right here. And immediately when I come in here, and again, I've got this set to wide open, I can see all of the adults in my kids' life and the information that they want to share with me. So I can see progress, meaning here's their learning profile, the transcripts, and the report cards, if there's been any conduct issues. And again, you guys decide what people are seeing. I'm showing you all these so that you can know what's what's possible. Here's the latest team results because it knows what's going on here. Here's the files that we told you we were gonna send you, and here's the, you know, the report cards and transcripts. Here are all the courses that they're taking. If you want to share information about the classroom, you can. This is also a place, you know, if you wanna allow parents to message teachers and do all that, you can or not. And then you'll what you'll also see is it goes beyond the classroom. There's college counseling and advisory and athletics and activities and community. But I don't have to go into this system here and click on each one of these things. If there was anything relevant to what's going on today, it's gonna show right up here under messages. Here are all the adults in my kid's life. If they posted an announcement or saw something there, they can see it. Or I can go into the calendar because it's going to take all my athletic activity and put it here. And this is where most families live. What's different probably from where what you're doing now is that all of those things from outside sources are not coming in here together. And should you be using, you know, Google Apps for Ed, or should you be using Canvas, or should you be using, like, another system? We work very well with those outside systems. So it's not like you have to use all things Blackbaud, and those things can still pump up and come through our calendar, news, billing, and all those pieces here. So all that information about my kid is great. So what I'm gonna do now is sort of switch over, quickly and give you a sense of what it is like for a teacher. And you're gonna notice here remember that Peter is also a faculty member, so I can go in here and take a quick look. And what you're gonna notice, I hope, is that we still have directories. We still have calendars. We still have news. We still have those things. Doesn't matter if you're a grandparent, parent, board member. Whoever's logging in here, you need those things. There are gonna be different things in there, but the navigation of how I find things is still going to be there. However, when a faculty person comes in, the benefits here are that I can see the schedule immediately. It's all about doing. When I was a parent, I just need to find things, do things, fill up the permission slip, fill out the form, you know, do all those things. When I come in here, we know that as a teacher, I'm a, you know, you can see on here, here's their schedule, but it goes community service, you know, painting. It's it's not just academic things. You can see I've got varsity baseball. I've got, you know, all these pieces here. So I'm coming in and being Peter Abel, and I can come in and I can take my attendance. It can be as simple as look around the room. Yep. Everybody's here. All present. Or I can, you know, dive in and and, you know, take attendance and see all the people that are here. Yep. That looks great. If someone had called into the front and said someone had an orthodontist appointment, they would have put that system in put that information in the system, and it would be showing up, you know, right here. Again, so many things to sort of cover in here. It also knows my grade books, the checklists. Like, similar to the one I showed you for parents, there might be a checklist for teachers saying, hey. By the end of the semester, we need to do x, y, and z. And then here's my grading. You know, this this one's doing twenty seven days. These are doing one day. So all of this information here is designed around me to get things done. So when I come into my particular class I'm just gonna open up AP biology here. This is where we're sort of getting into our learning management system. Again, if you're using a different one, you don't have to use this, and we can still bring in the information from here. But what I'm gonna show you is, I hope that, you know, it looks and feels the same where I can get into topics. Meaning, if I'm teaching biology, it's not just a bunch of assignments. It's three weeks of molecular forces, you know, two weeks of this. I can group teach. So I can put all that information in here. I can, you know, set up my assignments here. And, again, whether you're doing mastery pieces, whether you're doing different types of grading, that is something that Elizabeth was talking about before, where we're gonna speak with you about how you do things and put these all together. That's a very important part. Arguably, the biggest part of what we do is we customize all of this to your unique way of teaching. And whether I'm sort of diving in, to, you know, to the grading part, I'm not gonna dive too much into all of that. But this is the beauty of it all being in one place. But I wanna hit the roster for a second. Because when it comes to communicating, this is one of the best parts that we have, which is that whenever I'm looking somebody up, I can be group teaching with other people. You're going to notice that the information that I can get on a student or the other people that I'm teaching with is all in one place. So because we have medical built into this, I can't go into too far, but you're gonna see medical alert, you're gonna see IEPs that are already here. So all this information is immediately only available to me, the teacher, to see it. But if I need more information, you know, I wanna see the relationships and how they're all done. And now imagine, you know, I'm a coach, and I'm a you know, someone who's coaching right now, I get the same type of information, here. And you have the ability, if you choose to, to allow teachers to send, you know, information to all students, to parents, to all, or I can click into any one of this and sort of send them, you know, an individual message from here. Another nice part is you might, have common reports that you want them to have. Here's all the emergency contacts from the kids in my list. Here's the learning profiles. When I click on this, again, it's gonna know I'm the biology teacher, and it's only gonna show me these learning profiles and all of these, you know, particular things, the school forms for this for this page I mean, for this class are all gonna be in one place just for here. So big picture wise, this is the idea. I come into one spot. I can sort of I can do all things. But the other nice thing is that it goes beyond just, you know, the the classes. It goes into all of the, you know, other things. It knows that I'm the head of the varsity baseball team. It knows that I'm in this particular thing for Jump Rope for Heart that I'm doing with the development office. It knows all of these things. So that when I go in and and go in here, you're gonna see even though I'm now in baseball, which is different from academics, the look and feel is easy. And when I go into the roster, similar to what I was just showing you, this is kinda cool because we know that now you wanna know the medical who's been cleared, not cleared, all this. And, again, everybody's just doing their job in the back, and now it's showing up to a coach or a teacher in the way that they need to see it. So, that is me talking too fast about too many, a lot of different things. But I hope you're leaving with the sense that we built this and have now proven it out at thousands of schools, of which, you know, a thousand of those schools are small, that I get to come into one place where tons of hats. I don't need a technical background, to learn this. And I can, you know, get right in and and dive into, how this how this basically you know, I I I don't need to have any sort of technical background to be able to do any part of this. And what's, you know, unique to us is that we're gonna, you know, sit down with with many of you, and sort of get to, hey. If we're attaching this to something else, we can, you know, to tools that you might already be having for us, they all integrate, obviously, directly together. All that underlying, information about teachers and families and students and alums, all of that, you know, comes together into into one system. So I'm gonna stop sharing this, and let me bring emotional system. Nope. You're good. No questions. Got a couple minutes. But I just wanna Yeah. Let me dive back into You're on the plan. I hit the button for you. Oh, thank you very much. So what I wanted to end with, just a couple of minutes, is, you know, if you're interested in doing this, lots of schools do it in a little in different ways. Right? And this is just an example for schools now that are trying to be up by Labor Day, if not before. You know, hey, you gotta get started, you know, relatively soon, but you don't have to do everything at once. Really, it's only the student information system, that, is one where you have to start at the beginning of the year. You don't wanna change student information systems in the middle of, you know, the you you don't wanna do that midyear. But enrollment management, we're either setting it up for the first time of the year. We're setting it up for reenrollment for February, same thing with with tuition management. So all of this would be part of a conversation. But I want you guys all to feel comfortable that if you're a small school, it's not like this we're looking at this as a technical thing. Many times, we're working with the, you know, the assistant to the head or the person who's sort of your your main administrative person, and going through this process. So this is something, if there's any questions about this, this is a perfect one for us to call you back and say, hey. What are you doing? What are you interested in? Some people do this in four months. Some people do it in twelve months. Some people do it in eighteen months. They sort of say, hey. How are we gonna set this overall community up? Let's bite off what we can chew, and and off we go. From a pricing standpoint, I just wanna sort of, tell you that we work with small schools. Smaller schools pay less, bigger schools pay more. And, you know, we we have a, you know, discussion about, you know, what it is that you're looking to do. The ones I've highlighted in yellow here, are essentially the things that most small schools start with, which is that enrollment and reenrollment management system that I showed you where people are logging in and doing it all. They log right back into that same system that they're using every day to do reenrollment. So all that contract stuff that I showed or financial aid, it's the same. I'm not teaching them how to reuse something. You're gonna have that yellow bar show up to sort of have people, you know, come through. And then the learning management system and student information system, this is one where, you know, that's that's really the meat of what I was showing you, that ability to come into one place, one calendar, one resource board, one, place for messages where I can see all the adults in my kids' life share with me. That is the key thing. For those of you who want a website, great fundraising, or you might already have the fundraising and financial edge piece, great. Let's figure out how to put this all together. So that is, sort of the key thing. I think, if there's any questions, I'd be happy to answer. I think Elizabeth's got a few more things that she wants to sort of pass on, but that's what I wanted to share with you all today. Yeah. Thanks, Will. A reminder for those, if you have any, you know, either more process oriented or, you know, potentially product oriented, please feel feel free to put those questions in the chat or in the q and a, goodness gracious, so that Will can take a look at them. If you have any sales related questions, you can message directly with Patrick or book some time with him taking a look at that docs area. I did also remind our friends that y'all will get this recording about twenty four hours after the fact. And just to double click on that, you know, we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation, with y'all, make sure that we are being prescriptive in the process, and help you grow into as much or as little of our total school solution. And with that, I'm gonna take one last minute to do a slight humble brag, because we're quite excited about it. But we are excited to announce that multiple Blackbaud products have been recognized by g two. They are the world's largest and most trusted software marketplace, in their 2025 best software awards. The annual awards rank the world's best software companies and products based on authentic timely reviews from real users. So we are very appreciative to all of our, customers for the reviews that they have left us. And with that, Will, I don't actually think I think you did such a thorough job or if folks are trying to think on their questions, I don't see anything in the q and a. So with that, I wanted to thank you for your time, thank our audience for their time, and our team will be following up. So I hope everyone has a great rest of your day, and thanks for joining us. Thanks all.
